When is the best time for maternity portraits?
I recommend that maternity portraits are taken between 30-33 weeks. Contact me during your second trimester to book your session!
What should I wear to my maternity session?
Once you schedule your session with Sandspun Photography, you’ll also schedule a pre-session consultation to go over the details of your session. During this consultation, we’ll go over your ideas for the session, what to bring with you, and wardrobe ideas to match. I also have a studio maternity wardrobe with a variety of gowns available for clients to use!
When is the best time for newborn portraits?
Newborns are best photographed under 2 weeks of age with the ideal time between 5 – 10 days (and once Mom’s milk has come in if you are breastfeeding) so that we can get sweet and sleepy curled up images. I recommend booking your newborn session during your second trimester. I love photographing older newborns as well – babies are comfortably swaddled and we often get more awake images!
When is the best time for baby portraits?
I photograph babies at approximately 6 and 12 months, or once they hit their sitting and standing milestones. They’re able to move around on their own a bit at this stage, and their personality is really starting to shine through!
When is the best time for Christmas portraits?
In order to receive products in time for the Christmas season, I recommend booking your session before October 31st. Sessions scheduled after early December are not guaranteed to arrive in time for Christmas.
Where and when do newborn sessions take place?
Studio Newborn sessions take place at the studio just outside of Leamington, Ontario and last 2-4 hours. Lifestyle Newborn sessions take place in your own home and last 1-2 hours. Natural Wonder outdoor newborn sessions take place seasonally at outdoor locations in the Leamington and surrounding area, and last about 1 hour. Newborn sessions ideally take place between 5-10 days after birth.
Where do family sessions take place?
Family sessions take place at the Essex county location of your choice. Once you schedule your session with Sandspun Photography, you’ll also have a pre-session consultation to go over the details of your session where we will decide on the perfect session location for you and your family!
Do you offer mini sessions?
Mini sessions are often offered during the first weeks of November, with both studio Christmas setups and outdoor Christmas tree farm sessions available. Other mini sessions are occasionally offered during the year. These often sell out, and the mailing list has the first opportunity to book. Sign up for the email list here so you don’t miss out!
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, in any amount. Gift certificates are the perfect gift for someone who has already booked a Sandspun Photography session, or for someone ready for a custom portrait experience.

What products do you offer?
From digital images to prints, albums, and large art for your walls, Sandspun Photography offers many different ways to enjoy your portraits. I love to plan your session around your goals for your images, whether it be an album to page through year after year or a large canvas to make you smile every time you walk through the room!
Are digital images included in the session fee?
The session fee covers your photography session. Digital images and print products are purchased separately in Collections after your session.
