New Life and New Directions {Leamington Newborn Photography}

After an extremely busy December, I’ve discovered that I’m Way behind in my blogging.  If you follow my Facebook page, you may have noticed that it’s a bit ‘newborn-centric’ these days.  With the new year comes new direction, and I’m looking at refocusing my business to some of my favourite subjects: babies and children.  I’ll still be accepting other work (I’ve rediscovered a love of couples photography recently too… that’s another session on the list to blog!) but my business focus is going to revolve around new life.   And I simply LOVE newborns.  I love how they smell, how they root around when they’re hungry, how they turn their heads in the direction of their mother’s voice.  Their soft, delicate skin and their flailing limbs as they test their new world boundaries.  And I love being able to capture these special moments at the very beginning of their life.  This newborn period is so short, and it’s so cliché but as a mom myself I’ve realized that it really does fly by much too quickly.  All of a sudden it’s their first birthday, and you’re looking back at where you were a year ago and you can’t figure out where the time went and how they’ve changed so much!

So after much thought and careful consideration, I’ve decided to focus on capturing new life and the early years that follow and I’m So excited about the decision.  I attended a newborn workshop in November (more pictures to blog!) and it completed affirmed the decision for me.  I feel so privileged to get to meet these new babies in their first week of life and to get to capture them for both their parents and for the babies themselves – so that as they get older they can see how much they’ve grown, too!  (My own daughter LOVES to look at her newborn pictures above her crib!)

I’m so grateful for all of the support I’ve received – I love to share my work and have really appreciated the positive feedback.  Thank you!  I’m very excited about this next stage in my business, so please contact me if you’re expecting – I’d love to photograph your newborn!

Now – without any more fanfare, please see below for one of my first recent newborn sessions.  This little guy didn’t much want to sleep until his older brother came in with all the noise of a tornado – that must just be what he’s used to!  🙂 But we were able to get some sleepy shots, and even a sweet newborn smile!
